Coco Rosie

Coco Rosie at ScalaThis duo were accompanied by a crowd of dancers, shakers and beat-boxers on stage at their gig at the Scala which made for a brilliant, energetic and dynamic show. Coco Rosie are well worth seeing live, but checking out their album Noah’s Ark will give you a taster of their trip-hop meets rap meets opera style music.

Bat for Lashes

Bat for Lashes at the ScalaNot only did Bat for Lashes put on a great show at their supporting appearance at the Scala, but they introduced me to the band Coco Rosie (see above). Thanks to Mary once again, cos if she weren’t playing in Bat for Lashes I’d never have experienced either…

Goodbye to the 38 Routemaster Bus

38 bus I took a ride on the 38 bus on friday night just for the sake of it – it was the last run of the old routemaster now replaced with the much reviled bendy bus. so sad to see that beautiful piece of 50’s design disappearing from the streets of london. found this brilliant song summing up the occasion on Richard Wolfe’s website, go listen to it!

Map of London Poverty 1899

Stumbled upon this site when trying to find out where we were moving to – our street is here and where you live in London was (probably) also mapped in 1899 by Charles Booth using his ‘Poverty Classification’ – notice the lowest class isn’t just classifed as low class but also “Vicious, semi-criminal.” or less low class, “Chronic want.” Map of London Poverty 1899
