Hidden (Caché)
On the surface this film is about life in the media, everyday surveillance and voyerism. But underlying all this, the film tells the story of one man’s personal history and feelings of guilt over his past actions. This character questions how responsible he should be or feel for the actions he took as a child – but the film uses this as a metaphor for the larger issue of one country and nation’s acknowledgement of responsiblity and sense of guilt over their colonial past.
